Bestselling, not just bestwriting!

When someone says, "How do you market your book?," do you cringe inside? Does the thought of having to be a salesperson -- & not just the artistic writer -- scare &, frankly, make you mad?

I'd like to discuss w/others their thoughts on marketing -- does it come natural to you, does it make you want to go back to bed & pull the covers over you head . . . or are you somewhere in the middle, anxious & ready to learn how others are doing it?

I used to think a long time ago that it was just about writing and voila. The more I read books on becoming a bestseller and how to promote yourself, the more I realized I needed my 'iron shoes' yes! I had to be willing to go out there, put away my fears and doubts and make it happen. I am so ready for all that, I think when you are passionate about something it kills the fears and every other thing that will otherwise paralize you.

Marketing scares the crap out of me. I would prefer to stay hold up in my office and type for 12 hours then goout and meet the public, potential clients or potential buyers.

I do alot of free lance work which requires me to go out and meet with clients. But that first interview with the newspaper about killed me. I was a nervous wreck and swore I would never do another one. Needless to say I have another interview next week and a book signing coming up shortly.

So I am here for help and to hear other peoples secrets to getting over the fear of marketing.

Marketing doesn't come easily to most writers, but in today's publishing world we must promote ourselves and our books. I don't like the marketing part of the business, and I not only have to market my own books, but I'm responsible for helping to market the books for the publishing company 4RV Publishing LLC, since I'm the president.

I'm learning more and more about marketing: book signings, school and library readings and programs, blogging, blogging tours, getting the reviews out before the book is.

I'm open to any all ideas, but I've found the Internet is an amazing resource. My company has a web site, and we have a page for each of our authors. All authors are encouraged to have a personal web site to promote themselves and their books.

The more the public recognizes an author's name, the more likely books written by him will sell.
